Chapter 4

HAPPY 22ND BIRTHDAY SIDNEY!!

Chapter 4

Kylie’s POV

I immediately backed away from Jordan, crashing my head on the top of the cabinet. What the hell just happened? He didn’t try and kiss me because we were barely friends, right? I grimaced and rubbed my head before stepping out.

“Um, you almost caught Jordan, so he didn’t know I was in here until he opened it. It was to late though, so he just hid in there with me.” I lied while laughing nervously. Sid gave me a look before pulling Jordan out of the cabinet.

“Ky, you have school tomorrow, so we’re going home. Jordan you can go with Vero and Flower.” He said looking at me.

I groaned at the thought of school, having to make new friends and everything. Vero hugged me and whispered in my ear. “You so have to call me tonight.” Marc hugged me also. “Have a good night, Mini C.”

“Mini C?” I asked laughing.

He shrugged, “You’re like Sid, but smaller. And I’m to lazy to say “Mini Crosby”, so I shortened it “Mini C.” He explained.

I continued to laugh, “You’re crazy Flower. Now I have to come up with a nickname for you.”

Sidney’s POV

I walked out of the mall with Kylie and as soon as we were out of earshot, I began asking her questions.

“So what was Jordan really doing in there with you?” I asked her seriously.

She shrugged, “How the hell am I supposed to know? And I already told you.” She said defensively. Something was definitely up, but I decided to drop it.

“The school you’re going to is Fox Chapel Area High School. I checked it out, it’s pretty nice and it has good athletics. You can play soccer and lacrosse on the school teams, but you’ll have to find a different league for hockey.” I explained, changing the subject.

“I don’t know if I’m going to play hockey this year.” She mumbled softly not looking at me.

I almost crashed the car I was so shocked. “What?! Last time I saw you all you could talk about was “hockey this” or “hockey that.” What the hell happened?”

“Maybe I just need a break.” She said shrugging, still not looking at me. I sighed and changed the subject. “So I’ll drop you off at school tomorrow since it’s your first day, but after that you have to work. It’s only a few miles. And tomorrow afternoon Staalzy will be picking you up to take you to the grocery store.”

She looked at me, biting her lip nervously. “Why Jordan?” She asked.

“I’m going to be tied up with some interviews and we need some food for the house. And he offered to do it, is there something wrong with that?” I asked suspiciously.

“No, no, it’s fine.” Kylie replied absent-mindely.

Kylie’s POV

Sid helped me move the furniture into my room to make it more me-ish. I arranged everything the way I liked it before putting all my crap away in it. I put the bulletin board of me and all of my friends from back home up. All around the room on the shelves were picture frames of me, me and my hockey team, and my friends. On my desk I put my favorite picture of me and Sid on a dock with her arms around each other. Next to that I put a picture of me and my best friend, Charlotte, partying together. Finally, I finished unpacking my clothes and flopped down on my bed. I thought of that huge Carey Price poster and laughed. I got up and pinned it up above my head. Because of the slanting wall, the poster was right in front of me! I finally fell asleep, nervous for the big day tomorrow.

Next Morning

I woke up almost sick to my stomach, I was so nervous about my first day of school. School was already about a month or two in, so even the other newbie’s would have friends. I dressed in my favorite pair of black, high top  converse, light grey skinny jeans, a yellow tank top poking out from underneath a black, long sleeved shirt. I straightened my hair for once and let my side bangs fall over my right eye. I grabbed my new messenger bag before taking a deep breath and walking downstairs. I was as ready as I ever would be. Because of my nerves I skipped my breakfast and went to the car where Sidney was waiting. We drove to the school in silence, I knew my knee bouncing was driving him crazy, but for once he didn’t say anything.

He squeezed my hand before kissing my cheek. “Just be yourself Kylie.” He told me.

I nodded my head before getting out. I went to the front office where a young blonde was working.

“What’s your name?” She asked not even looking up from her computer.

“Um, it’s Kylie.” I said playing with my hands.

“Last name.”

“Crosby.” I replied looking straight ahead. I heard her head snap up and her movements began to become flustered. She handed me my schedule and a map of the school, taking longer then necessary to go over the map and where my locker was.

“If you need anything hun, just come right to me.” She told me. I nodded my thanks before turning around to leave. “Wait Kya! Could you give this to you’re older brother.” She told me before handing a piece of paper to me and winking. This was going to be a long day.

I found my way to my locker, only getting lost once. I noticed that it was right across from the bathrooms, that was a good get away.

The girl next to me blew a bubble with her gum before popping it She had long, blonde hair with black tips and a few streaks of pink in it. “Damn, I knew having no one at the locker next to me wouldn’t last for long.”

I looked at her shyly, “Um sorry.”

She seemed to look at me for the first time, she looked me up and down and I seemed to get her approval. “Don’t be, you have a hot outfit on.” She rolled her eyes. “Every one around here dresses all preppy and is afraid to admit that they have boobs.”

I laughed before looking down at her tie-died converse. “Oh my god, I love you’re shoes!” I said

She laughed too, “This is going to sound nerdy, but I collect converse.”

“I do to! I would like buy out the whole converse collection if I could.” I said my eyes widening.

“What’s your name kid? I’m Lana.” She asked.

“My name is Kylie.” I responded.

“Mind if I see you’re schedule?” Lana said. I handed it over to her. She did a fist pump. “We have all of our classes together!” She practically yelled. I sighed in relief, I wasn’t going to have to be that new girl with the map. We went into homeroom together. She was right about most of the girls dressing preppy, but they did have some major hot guys. The teacher was going through roll and everyone seemed half asleep.

“Crosby, Kylie.” The teacher said in a bored voice. I raised my hand, sinking lower into my seat. Everyone turned around and gasped. The whispering started almost immediately. Lana turned and looked at me.

“Why is everyone spazzing out about your name?” She asked confused. Yes!  A friend that didn’t know about my older brother!

“Uh well, he’s sort of the captain for the Penguins.” I explained.

“Oh.” She rolled her eyes, “that explains it. I don’t give a shit about hockey, no offense or anything.” She didn’t know how great it was to hear that.

=+=+=+=+

That’s how the rest of the day went. Oh, and let’s see. I had exactly 27 girls come up to me and ask them to give Sidney their number with a personal note attached to it. I have 35 girls saying, “it would be totally awesome if we could hang out sometime!” and the cheerleaders begging for me to try out. I also had all the male hockey players begging me to have Sidney come to a practice sometimes. Some of them even asked me out on some dates. Not that I minded that part...

When Jordan came to pick me up though, I was dealing with a annoying sophomore who wanted Sid to come check out his “sick moves.”

“NO! I AM NOT FUCKING GOING TO MENTION YOU TO SID NOW BACK THE FUCK OFF!” I yelled before flipping him off. I sat in the passenger seat next to Jordan.

“Remind me to never piss you off.” He said before laughing.

  1. Hahaha!! Poor Kylie.

Great chapter. I'm glad that she found the one person in Pittsburgh who doesn't know Sid.

    Keep it up.
