Kylie’s POV
I shoved the note into my pocket, trying to ignore it. I wasn’t going to let Brent ruin my night, he was the reason I escaped to here in the first place. Still, as we were walking down the hallways I couldn’t help but feel that note burning a hole into my pocket. When we got to the parking lot where Lana and I normally parted, I chickened out.
“Hey Lane, do you think that instead of coming over after the game tonight, you could just come home with me now? I have some clothes you could borrow for tonight and tomorrow.” I said desperately, the thought of being alone for four hours panicked me.
She looked at me strangely. “Yea…but are you okay? When that note fell out of your locker you’ve been looking kind of green.” Lana asked. I plastered a smile onto my face, “Of course I’m fine! We’re going to have a kick ass time tonight!”

We stood outside my house as I was fumbling with my keys to unlock the door. Lana suddenly snorted, “Oh the irony.” She said before laughing.
“What do you mean?” I asked confused.
“Do you know how many girls in my position would be DYING to be going into “Sidney sexy captain Crosby’s house? And I’m just thinking, “Kylie, hurry the fuck up because I’m cold!” It’s just ironic.” She said laughing.
I began laughing too, finally cheering up. “OH EM GEE! I AM GOING INTO SEXY SIDNEY’S HOUSE! OMG I JUST WANT TO JUMP IN BED WITH HIM!” I said throwing my hands up and acting like a crazed puck bunny before gagging. “I can’t believe I just called my brother sexy.” I finally got the door open and we gladly stepped into the warmth of the house.
Lana’s eyes widened and she looked at me. “We could so sell tours of this place. Like $50 dollars a person..” She said trailing off.
I shook my head sadly, “I like my sleep at night. If girls knew where Siddy’s house was, we would have girls scaling trees at night trying to jump into our windows. But….how much do you think a worn Sidney Crosby shirt would get?” I asked smirking.
She slapped the back of my head. “Ky, think! We could make money off of a tissue used by your brother! You genius!” She said before walking into the kitchen.
I got us two glasses of water and a bag of chips before sitting down at the table.
“So, tell me. What is it really like being Sidney Crosby’s little sister?” She asked before grabbing a chip and throwing it into her mouth.
“Um, for me it’s incredibly weird. I mean he’ll always be the Siddy that dared me to jump the pile of rocks on my bike, the Siddy that carried me home when I broke my wrist doing that. He’s just my older brother that happens to be really good at hockey.” I finally responded.
“Remember, NHL players are just like us, just really good at hockey!” She quoted from the commercial.
I threw a chip at her, “I thought you weren’t interested in hockey!” I exclaimed.
She giggled before shrugging. “I like to watch TV.” She admitted.
I sighed and looked at my hands. “It’s fun, but it’s really hard too. Do you know how many Facebook requests I have just because my last name is Crosby. Plus, to be honest I might quit hockey because of him..” I admitted.
Lana looked at me like I had three heads. “I’ve known you for what, two days? And I can already tell that you are obsessed with hockey. It’s hockey this, hockey that. Why in the world would you want to quit?” She asked.
“Well, every one in Cole Harbour was used to it because to them we’re just the Crosby’s down the street. But even would we would go to away games, as soon as people saw the name “Crosby” on the back they would start talking. And I would always disappoint because, let’s face it, my brother kicks my ass in hockey. Never, ever repeat that. And I’m sick of all the whispering. Thank god I’m not a boy, that would be even more pressure.” I explained.
She nodded her head. “I totally understand. My older sister is really smart, so I’ve always felt the need to try and be smart like her. But I just can’t do it.” She said smiling sadly. I got up to put the glasses of water into the dishwasher when I noticed a chalkboard hung up right next to the kitchen entry way. I smiled and walked over, that was exactly where my mom hung up a chalk board in the house back home to remind us if we had practice or who’s turn it was to take out the garbage. I saw that there was a note on it written in Siddy’s familiar sloppy scrawl.

Drive to the players parking lot and show the guard your I.D., they are expecting you. You can bring a friend if you want, keys are on the counter for Jim. See you at the game

I laughed to myself quietly, Sidney was still naming his cars just like my dad does. Lana and I sat and chatted more before I realized it was 5:30.
“Oh shit! We should really get going to the game!” I yelped before grabbing my jacket, grabbing the keys, and walking outside to the car.
I stared at it nervously before shoving the keys into Lana’s hand. “Cam you drive, pretty please with strawberries on top?” I begged.
“Uh yeah, sure. Why though?” Lana asked.
“I’m a pretty good driver, but I’m known for putting some dents into cars. Sidney loves Jim, if I even scratch Jim I am so dead.” I explained.
“Sidney’s gay? Who the hell is Jim?” She asked confused before looking around. I nearly died from laughter, “No, as much as Siddy might seem gay, he is 100% straight. But he’s a spaz and names his cars.” I patted the Range Rover’s hood. “Lana meet Jim, Jim this is Lana.
She shook her head before replying. “Wow, the Crosby’s are truly a strange family.”
The whole time I gave directions to Lana to the way to the rink. Or, at least I thought I was. Instead we ended up in a parking lot with a construction site near us.
Lana looked at me. “I know I don’t know anything about hockey, but I sure as hell don’t think they play here? Where are we?” She asked.
I threw my hands up. “How would I know? You’re the one who has lived here your whole life!” I exclaimed.
She shook her head and pulled to the side of the road. “Nope, never seen this place before.” She stated.
I looked at the time on the dashboard, 5:50. Maybe, just maybe I would be able to catch Sidney before he went to warm ups. I pulled out my cell phone. Oh shit. No service and we are so lost!
